    • With students from Tunghai University I went on a field trip to investigate the status of Green Island’s coral reefs. Only the white coral ruble on this rocky beach hint at what is hidden underneath the ocean surface. The coral reefs are the true “Sleeping Beauties” of Green Island. However, these natural treasures along Taiwan’s coast line are highly threatened by climate change, pollution and over fishing. On this dive, at ten meters depth we saw a sea turtle peacefully swimming by. Magical moments like this always remind me that we have to protect these fragile ecosystems.
